How to Use This Book

This is an unofficial study guide for the driving theory exam in Armenia. It turns the public exam questions into lessons, so you learn why each answer is right instead of memorizing 1,100 answers.

Remember: This book is not published by, or connected to, the Road Police or any government body. The official text of the Traffic Rules always comes first.

The chapters follow the order you need them:

  1. Foundations: the words the Rules use, licences and your duties.
  2. Reading the Road: lights, traffic officers, signs and markings.
  3. Rules of Driving: speed, overtaking, intersections, stopping and more.
  4. Safe Driving: habits that keep you safe beyond the exam.
  5. Your Vehicle: faults that mean you must not drive.
  6. Accidents and First Aid: what to do when something goes wrong.

The appendices give you a sign gallery, the key numbers on one page, a glossary and a question index.

Every lesson follows the same pattern:

  • The rules, explained in plain words with the reason behind them.
  • Try it yourself, where you work through a real situation.
  • Key points, a short recap for revision.
  • Practice questions, with the answer hidden until you open it.

Three kinds of note appear along the way:

Remember: The one fact to keep from that part.

Common trap: A mistake the exam likes to catch.

Did you know? A reason or consequence that makes the rule stick.

Extra: What these boxes are

Not from the question bank.

Open boxes like this one for helpful background. Everything outside them comes from the exam questions. Everything inside them is extra, so you can skip it when you are short of time.

  1. Read one lesson at a time, in order. Later lessons build on earlier ones.
  2. Answer the practice questions before you open each answer.
  3. Read the explanation even when you were right. It often explains why the other options are wrong.
  4. Return to the Key points the day before your exam.
  • This is an unofficial guide. The official Rules always come first.
  • Read in order, and try each question before you open the answer.
  • Boxes marked Extra are optional background.
